Disbudding Goat Kids

We offer a professional goat kid disbudding service designed to safely remove horn buds at the appropriate time, ensuring (effective removal and) minimal discomfort for the kids. Our procedure guarantees that the kids can resume their normal activities such as standing, feeding and playing immediately after the process.

During disbudding all kids receive topical and injectable anaesthesia, long-acting pain relief and anti-inflammatory medications. Additionally the first vaccination is administered before the procedure as part of the preparation process (this is a requirement for tetanus). It is crucial to perform disbudding before the horns are attached to the skull, this is generally from 4-14 days although the exact timing may vary slightly depending on the breed and sex of the kid. Feel free to reach out to us to discuss your specific requirements.

It is a legal requirement to comply with the Animal Welfare (Care and Procedures) Regulations 2020, which mandates that only trained and certified technicians perform disbudding procedures using the appropriate medications. Failure to adhere to these regulations can lead to legal consequences, including prosecution and fines.

We provide our goat kid disbudding service at your property if it is within our service area, or at our farm located just outside Silverdale on the North Shore, Auckland. Rest assured that your animals will receive expert care to ensure a smooth and comfortable disbudding process.
